Well, well, well… Look who decided to come and have a seat on my little controversial couch! It’s been far too long! I’m aware that’s my fault but let’s not point fingers.

I’d tell you to come in a set a spell but it’s still a Pythagorean theorem outside so keep your mask on and let’s chat 6 feet apart!
Unless you’re like me you are well aware that America’s favorite day is fast approaching and I don’t mean Valentine’s Day! The Super Bowl is a coming and many people are very much excited…
EYE YAM KNOT one of those people. These days nothing surprises me more than the first cold snap of winter and realizing Super Bowl weekend has descended upon us.
We’ll chat about why watching the Super Bowl isn’t on my weekend To-Do List in a minute. Before we do that let’s celebrate February 5th; a day that is very important to me!
Today is a special day! Today is the 4 year anniversary of when the Atlanta Falcons fumbled the bag for the entire world to see in true GA sports fashion!
Shoutout to the organizing homies in GA for flipping the state blue during the presidential election and senate runoffs though!

In case you didn’t know or intentionally tried to forget; The Falcons blew a 25 point lead on 2/5 in 2017 and I will never let them or their fans live it down! EVER!
The day the Falcons made a fumble (like when Charlotte took that tumble but more embarrassing) was also the last time I intentionally tuned into the NFL. If you knew me before the Fumble in the Gridiron Jungle you knew a woman who was a DIEHARD Saints fan! I would plan my schedule around Saints football games during the fall and winter. Everyone in my life knew my time with my Bayou Boys was sacred and I was unavailable to be of support, assistance, or reassurance.
I may or may not have “jokingly” told someone to make sure not to have an emergency during Monday Night Football when the Saints were playing. DON’T JUDGE ME!
A lot has changed since then! Football no longer shivers my timbers and the Gridiron Gala isn’t on my social calendar anymore. The NFL and I are currently estranged; I used to love football with my whole soul but now I can’t even look at him…
Partially because I can’t watch players get the sense knocked out of them without wondering if each hit will cause life-altering effects or lead to a posthumous CTE diagnosis; but I digress.
The NFL has also grossly mishandled sanctioning players who were physically violent towards their partners.
Ray Rice in that elevator still makes me shudder!
Then there was black-balling Colin Kaepernick and obstructing players’ abilities to peacefully protest white America’s national anthem that really solidified our separation.
MY National Anthem is Lift Every Voice and Sing
HOWEVER, the NFL’s unscrupulous behavior isn’t the source of our controversial topic today. I’m not trying to convince anyone to stop tuning into the NFL right now. That’s another conversation for another time.
Are you annoyed that I took you through all that it if wasn’t even the topic of discussion?! If so you’ve never visited with a Southerner… tangents are our love language. Tangents and grits made with salt, pepper, and butter.

Anyway… I’m here TUHDAY because as another Super Bowl approaches I want to share my controversial opinion on one of the QBs who will take the field on Sunday and is this year’s culprit for my disinterest in the game.
Are y’all ready?! My controversial opinion is…

TOM BRADY ISN’T ONE OF THE GREATEST PLAYERS OF OUR TIME!
There I said it! He isn’t y’all and this doesn’t have anything to do with his presence off the field; which is truly awful all on its own. But again I digress…
I be digressing a lot!
I can hear y’all now. BUT CASS… He has 6 Super Bowl rings and a bunch of other shit that I don’t care about and won’t change my mind.

He isn’t “The GOAT” because Tom Brady has cheated his way to AT LEAST TWO Super Bowls!
ONE Super Bowl cheating scandal is worthy of heavy side eye but plausibly forgivable… TWO in a relatively short timespan is indicative of a pattern of behavior. It causes people to question the merit of all of your accomplishments. By the way, it’s me, I’m people.
Being a jerk off the field doesn’t help people give you the benefit of the doubt either.
Nobody gets caught every time they cheat and buddy and nem have been caught twice. TWICE! Which means there are potential instances of cheating that we don’t know about which possibly contributed to his “stellar record”.
In my opinion, greats aren’t great if their accomplishments are mired in scandal. Ipso facto, Tom Brady ain’t all that!
I root for ERRYBODY BLACK at all times and I put some extra razzle dazzle on it during Black History Month! With that being said Go Patrick Mahomes… I won’t be watching but I’m pulling for you homie! I also REALLY don’t care for Tom Brady so I’d be thrilled if you mopped the floor with him.
That’s all folks! Feel free to argue with me in the comments. Catch y’all on the next #FreeGameFriday! #CassOut
P.S. – I am aware that the Saints had a “cheating scandal” during their Super Bowl winning season as well. I am possibly biased BUT taking VERY seasoned veteran QBs out of the game while not cool is a likely occurrence without the motivation of a bounty payout. I’m not excusing knocking Brett Favre or Kurt Warner out of the game; I’m just saying it could have happened either way because at that time they were geriatric by football standards. Brett Favre became an actual grandfather that year. IJS!
I just wanted to say that there was another point of controversy in your post…you mentioned something about grits and salt/pepper. I’m sure it was a typo because we all know….sugar and butter are the holy grail! But loved this and welcome back! ❤️
